Building more than structures – Construction Community Round Tables

Building more than structures – Construction Community Round Tables

Organizer: Vancouver Island Contstruction Association. On a sunny September afternoon thirty high profile influencers and community leaders in the Comox Valley developer and construction community came together to discuss shared goals and better ways  to ensure economic sustainability for the region. From North Island College to Kinetic Construction, from the City of Campbell River to Crown Isle Development – the players represented almost every faucet of a successful project. My role as facilitator was to create an opportunity for these dynamic people to meet and discuss how to collaborate and to work together in an industry that is known more for aggressive competition versus collaboration.

For community consultations and meetings like this – it was important to host in the area and invite representatives of all the stakeholder groups. The result was a very successful three hours where people were able to look beyond immediate challenges, make connections and see how everything fit into the bigger picture. Feedback to organizer VICA was positive and demonstrated authentic value in the industry community.
